Following a significant home extension, the clients wanted a sleek new family garden to complement their house.
The brief included a swimming pool, a sunny seating area for entertaining and spaces for children to play. A contemporary aesthetic demanded clean lines and sleek materials, which are balanced with naturalistic planting. A raised seating area with in-built seating was designed to maximise the evening sunlight in a north-facing site.
Low maintenance plants were selected for year-round interest, to add texture and character to the space. An automatic irrigation system has helped new plants to thrive during an especially hot summer. Pleached trees provide screening and allow a sense of seclusion while swimming.
